Memories Passed on through Genes

Research now shows it’s possible for some information to be inherited biologically. Here’s an excerpt:

Research from Emory University School of Medicine, in Atlanta, has shown that it is possible for some information to be inherited biologically through chemical changes that occur in DNA. During the tests they learned that mice can pass on learned information about traumatic or stressful experiences – in this case a fear of the smell of cherry blossom – to subsequent generations.

Professor Marcus Pembrey, a pediatric geneticist at University College London, said this research provided “compelling evidence” for the biological transmission of memory. He added, “It is high time public health researchers took human trans-generational responses seriously.”

A Message of Peace

Even though we live in a time of worldwide turmoil, it is important to remember that true peace resides within us. When we “rise above the battlefield” of the ego to the Soul level, we can see a much higher perspective. The shadow aspects of our collective unconscious are being brought to the surface for transformation on a global as well as an individual basis. As we move through this transitional stage of clearing out what is no longer working, we can welcome in the Aquarian energy which is about freedom, democracy and equality.

The outer world is a reflection of our inner world and we must hold the vision of Divine light and not succumb to pessimism. By collectively maintaining a positive vision for our future, we assist our Soul to manifest that reality rather than add to the messages of fear and separation. In the spirit of the season may we extend peace, love and hope for each other and our planet.

There Are No ATM Machines in Heaven

There are no ATM machines in heaven. We don’t take our money, our physical possessions or our bodies with us. Those things are temporary. What we take with us are the qualities of Soul consciousness that we have developed here. However, our ego world doesn’t value what is most valuable such as “beingness, mindfulness, peace of mind.” We are on a treadmill of busyness and doingness, continually distracted by ever increasing diversions, email, social media, electronics, addictions of work, alcohol, drugs, shopping, etc.

Many of my clients report how difficult it is to meditate or to take time to sit and relax. There are many reasons for this. In addition to what I just stated, we have overt and covert childhood messages that tell us we are “lazy” or “bad” if we aren’t being “productive” and doing something all the time.

Another factor is ancestral programming from the time when we lived in an agrarian age where we had to work from dusk till dawn on the farm just to survive. Those instincts are still with us until we become more aware and realize that we have more choices now and it is healthy to slow down… to have balance in life. In the quiet spaces, we access our intuition and the “still small voice” of our Higher Self.

Some other reasons people resist quieting their minds is the “unfinished business” from the past that surfaces when we get quiet. Distressing thoughts and feelings can be uncomfortable. We quickly want to anesthetize and distract from them rather than process through them.

My point is that we are here in “classroom earth” to remember who we are as spiritual beings, to evolve as a Soul. The most important thing is our spiritual path and developing the qualities of Spirit. That is something we do take with us.

I invite you to invest in your “spiritual bank account” and join me at one of my workshops. Some people would prefer to work with me privately and you can make an appointment. You can find workshops or contact me through my website

May you be blessed by the stillness of your Soul!

Casting Call for Children’s Past Life Memories

I was contacted by a television producer of the Lifetime A&E TV show called “The Ghost Inside My Child”. They are running a second series of the show and are looking for families with children that had past life memories between the ages of 2 and 17 years old. They want to hear the story through the family’s point of view recounting what their child was experiencing (even if your child is now older). The purpose of the show is to educate and inspire audiences about this phenomenon.

In addition to those children who spontaneously remembered past lives, it can also include children/adolescents that I regressed that had a past life memory that helped them get over an issue or to understand feelings and beliefs that they carried over into this lifetime.

In Memory of Dr. Ken Wapnick, Friend/Mentor

I am dedicating this blog entry to my long time spiritual teacher, friend and mentor Dr. Ken Wapnick who made his transition at age 71 on Friday, December 27 from a lung tumor. Many considered him the premier teacher of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) which is a psycho-spiritual self study system based on forgiveness in relationships. I studied with him for many years attending his classes in New York for psychotherapists who wanted to understand and integrate the psycho-spiritual principles of ACIM into their practices.

I had the privilege of being able to work with him individually before his schedule became so busy. He truly helped to keep me on track during the early years of my spiritual path. When I would get discouraged that I felt I was making slow progress or making mistakes he would remind me of a quote in ACIM that says “Your job is not to be without an ego, but to forgive yourself for having one.” “Mistakes call for correction, not condemnation.”

My husband Dave and I feel fortunate that we had a chance to have dinner with Ken his wife Gloria in Temecula, California last year near his center called the Foundation for ACIM. I shared with him my ideas for my second book and he was quite encouraging just as he was so positive about my first book Soul Visioning. I feel that he will continue to help many of us who seek his assistance from the other side.

Thank you Ken for your uncompromising dedication to helping us to remember our true identity as a Soul and our oneness with the Divine and each other.

A Course in Miracles Workshop in the New Year?

If any one might be interested in learning more about A Course in Miracles through an introductory workshop, send me an email indicating your interest at [email protected] If there is enough interest we will offer it sometime in 2014.

It is a wonderful new year’s resolution to rededicate your efforts to your spiritual growth. There are many paths to awakening to our spiritual identity and the Course claims to be only one path. However, it does offer to save us a thousand years because it systematically undoes the root cause of the belief in our separation from Source from which all problems stem.

Dr. Brian Weiss’ Daughter on Oprah Show

You can read the complete article or view short segments on Oprah’s website:

Many of you may have seen Dr. Brian Weiss with whom I trained on the Oprah Super SoulSunday show. He is a Yale trained psychiatrist who is a proponent of past life regression therapy. Oprah interviewed him recently regarding his new book Miracles Happen:The Transformational Power of Past Life Memories that was co-authored with his daughter Amy.

Miracles Happen co-author Amy Weiss was also interviewed and described her own personal regression experience in a simple but happy life as an elderly Japanese man and what she learned from it.
“The Japanese man’s joy had nothing to do with outside events, and outside events did not steal the joy from him. I could learn so much from him…”

Amy contrasted that past life with her current life which is very different. She had not been able to shake off a depression of sorts that prevented such happiness from ever being within reach. “In my present life, for many years I had struggled with what seemed to be pervasive sadness and discontent. Sometimes I could clearly point to a biological component. Sometimes an awful event happened in the world that brought me to my knees where I found myself unable to stand again. And sometimes I just looked at the news, at the incalculable and imaginative things people do to hurt one another, and felt so tired…behind it all there was a melancholy that didn’t make sense to me.”

“…I realized that depression was something I had taken on in this lifetime, that it was not a part of my soul itself. It was a heavy coat I had chosen to wear in order to learn an important lesson , but a coat can always be removed. No one mistakes a coat hanging in a closet for the person who wears it. It was not me: how could it be?
Sadness was not a fundamental part of my soul. My soul had just dipped into that experience to learn what it felt like, to see what it might teach me. But my soul did not possess or become it, and I did not need to identify with it, to claim it any longer. These insights, gained in a split second, forever changed the way I saw myself.”

Amy also stated in the interview:

“Many people who undergo a regression and successfully remember a past life are able to watch the scenes unfold like a movie, witnessing the life in a linear fashion from birth to death. Others see nothing but simply “know” what is happening. Past lives can appear in dreams, in experiences of déjà vu. They may be nothing more than a snapshot, a glimpse of a scene. It is not necessarily the events of a lifetime that heal the person remembering it; Some regressions are powerful not for the concrete details they provide but for the deeply transcendent emotions they generate.”

In Memory of Debbie Ford

Debbie Ford, New York Times best selling author of many books including “The Dark Side of the Light Chasers” died recently of cancer at the age of 57. I will always be grateful to her for endorsing my “Soul Visioning” book in 2008 and the courageous contribution she made to the importance of reclaiming our “shadow” parts.

We shared a common belief that we need to own our “shadow” self (the parts that are hidden, disowned and disdained). Debbie said, “There are parts of ourselves that we are unaware of or we’re in denial of or the parts of ourselves that we don’t like, that we feel ashamed of or embarrassed by, that we suppress. We spend our time, sometimes knowingly, sometimes unknowingly, hiding them.”

“In trying to express only those aspects of ourselves that we believe will guarantee us the acceptance of others, we suppress some of our most valuable features and sentence ourselves to a life of reenacting the same drama with the same outworn script. Reclaiming the parts of ourselves that we have relegated to the shadow is the most reliable path to actualizing our human potential. Once befriended, our shadow becomes a divine map that reconnects us to the life we were meant to live and the people we were meant to be. We do have to, ultimately, bring the shadow out of the shadows and bring it to the light.”

There are many ways to discover and heal our “shadow self” including past life regression, dream interpretation, forgiveness, hypnotherapy, and mindfulness. I address this in my Soul Visioning book. (Chapter 4: What is Really Holding You Back?) To embrace all parts of ourselves without condemnation allows us to heal it and correct the misperceptions of who we think we are. According to Carl Jung, we need to find the “gold in the dark” and realize that there are gifts hidden in our shadow.

“What is disowned in us, owns us.” Susan Wisehart

Dr. Brian Weiss’ New Book

Good news! Brian Weiss, MD, a Yale trained psychiatrist, with whom I trained and endorsed my “Soul Visioning:Clear the Past, Create Your Future” book has a new book release called “Miracles Happen” which is available on

As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas. Yet these memories allowed her to recover from her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks in a way he’d never experienced. His skepticism eroded further when she began to channel messages from “the space between lives” and reveal truths about his dead son that she never could have known. Now a leader in the field of past-life therapy, Dr. Weiss has helped thousands connect with their past lives and experience tremendous healing. In Miracles Happen, Weiss, along with his daughter, Amy, shares these remarkable real-life stories to reveal how past-life regression holds the keys to our spiritual purpose.
